Dominica celebrates 10 years of Summer Daybreak Breakfast Fete in Grand Bay

Dominica: Dominica’s Summer Daybreak Breakfast Fete concluded, marking its 10th anniversary in Grand Bay celebrated from August 7-10, 2026 The event featured famous Bouyon, soca, dancehall, reggae and other Caribbean music genres and was hosted by Asa Bantan, Dominican bouyon singer, songwriter and cultural figure, also the founder of the festival.

The event has significantly evolved into a major cultural event on the Dominica’s summer international calendar over the years. The event's final day celebration was scheduled to take place at the Savannah in Grand Bay on Sunday, August 9 from 1:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Dominica Festivals facebook post featured the celebration through a video showcasing the artists performing over the stage and the crowd was seen dancing and enjoying, following the red theme for an event.

The festival was celebrated as ‘The People’s Fete’, where participants were expected to wear red, the official theme chosen for the occasion. The red theme was also campaigned by Dominica’s tourism authorities and event organisers.

Music remained as the main focus of the celebrations, providing a common stage to the Dominican, regional and international performers.

The occasion featured Asa Bantan, Trilla G, Jixel, Gwada G, Kenny G, BRG Hollywood, Reo Ok Boom, Eddy, Little Boy, Lestef KJF, Pudaz, Freddy, Fifin & Wotlis, Faithii, Devon, Strosey, King Kembé of St. Maarten and SMS of Guadeloupe.

The entertaining weekend commenced with a Lighting Parade on August 7, travelling from the Grand Bay Community Centre to Lalay, bringing artists like TK International, Asa Bantan and DJ Shil together. Followed by a Pre-Breakfast Fete Party in the early hours of August 8 at Hyland.

Displaying bouyon, soca, reggae and dancehall the main fete continued on Sunday with a Breakfast Fete Cool Off. The festival wrapped up on August 10 along with an Island Tour and Wet Fete Finale, passing through Massacre, St. Joseph and Mero prior to reaching back to Grand Bay.

The 2026 edition also complemented the tourism and economic dimension of the nation.

Organisers predicted the arrival of attendees from Dominica and across the wider Caribbean region. The event created business opportunities for hotels, bars, restaurants, transport operators and vendors in Grand Bay and nearby localities.

The festival was also promoted by the Government of Dominica by investing through the Ministry of Tourism.
