An international bouyon artist from Dominica, Asa Bantan, helped some families in the communities of Gutter and Trash Pit to pay off their debts. The names of beneficiaries were not disclosed, but the list included mainly elderly, disabled and single mothers.
As per reports, Bantan, who is the Goodwill Ambassador of Dominica and his team cleared over $2500 worth of debts. While visiting the communities for New Year, he said that "no one should be going into the New Year with the credits from old year".
Notably, the payoffs were part of the Asa Bantan Credit Initiative that helps the less fortunate start their new year with $0 of credit on their heads.
Furthermore, in a long Facebook post, Asa Bantan mentioned that he do not know the names of the beneficiaries nor did he ask while assisting the individuals. Mainly the credits were paid off as Bantan and his team visited small shops, asking for the credit books and anonymously paid the dues.

"When the customers will come to pay off their credit, the shopkeeper will inform them that it has been paid for, and now they can use that money to buy their groceries and household items instead," he added. With this assistance, the singer said that he is not encouraging anyone to go and take credit, but sometimes there are just some people who can't afford the necessary goods that they need at the moment. He also vowed that he would continue to help with the Asa Bantan Credit Initiative at different times throughout the year in various communities. He also explained his motive behind his assistance and said, "You never know when it could be you or your family who may be in that situation and become the lucky one of your credit getting cleared. Giving back is always the right thing to do." The artist expressed a special thanks to Josephine Gabriel and Company Ltd for partnering with him on this exceptional gesture and added, "It takes love with a big heart to go around clearing people's credits at different shops and supermarkets." Josephine Gabriel also expressed his pleasure in taking part in this initiative and said, "It was our pleasure to collaborate with our TROISPITONS WATER ambassador, Asa Bantan, on this community outreach! Looking forward to continuing to make great things happen with you in 2024!"Asa Bantan
