Charles Morton, General Manager of the National Housing Corporation (NHC).

Charles Morton, General Manager of the National Housing Corporation (NHC), said that the institution functions as a team to ensure everyone is on the same page which adds to the efficiency of operations.

“…everyone gets an opportunity to be involved because we want to make sure that everyone within the unit knows exactly what is happening at the corporation. So, there is no one man operation; it is a team,” said the general manager.

Mr. Morton said that to keep everyone up-to-date he has implemented initiatives to engage staff.

“One of the things that I have implemented is every Monday morning we start the week with our assessment as to what has happened for the past week and what we foresee for the coming week,” said the general manager. “So, we meet as a management team and each one gets an opportunity to give a report on his or her department and then we discuss various things and we plan as to how we are going to execute on a number of things.”

Mr. Morton, who is tasked with managing the day to day operations of NHC, creating and implementing strategies designed to grow the organization, as well as coordinating the development of key performance goals to name a few noted that his role is encompassing.

“Yes, it is quite involved, and I welcome the opportunity because it is an area of operations that I have had over the last 20 years in management, so I can use the expertise and experience to help to build the organization and to send the organization in a particular direction,” he said.

Charles Morton was appointed general manager as of March 01, 2019. He has a wealth of knowledge and years of experience in management and finance, two key areas of expertise the corporation needs. According to a release from NHC, he is responsible for maintaining strong relationships and partnerships with relevant stakeholders, providing effective leadership to senior management, and achieving NHC’s mandate.
