Saint Lucia: Daren Sammy Ground undergoes major transformation ahead of ICC World Cup
Last week on Friday, the officials from the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports gave a tour of the facility to a record number of journalists from various media outlets on the island.

Those present at the site had a first-hand look at the extensive upgrades in time for the upcoming International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s T20 World Cup matches to be held on the island.
The Minister responsible for Youth Development and Sports of Saint Lucia, Kenson Casimir, led the tour, which was joined by staff of the Office of the Prime Minister, staff of the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports, and representatives from the Ministry of Finance and National Lotteries Authority.It is to be noted that Saint Lucia will host three matches in the qualifying round on June 15, 16, and 17, while three matches in the Super 8 are slated for June 19, 21, and 24.
Some of the most significant upgrades on the facility includes the installation of new lighting, a new electronic scoreboard, a complete renovation of the entire roofing at the facility, a new replay screen, a complete renovation of the entire roofing at the facility, an eye-catching player’s locker room to include hot and cold water, chills tubs as well as a media center which is fully airconditioned.
Meanwhile, major work is also going on the outside perimeter including the cark parking area and should be completed ahead of opening encounter between Australia and Scotland. The hosting of the prestigious T20 World Cup matches in this small island nation is a sign that the tourism sector is booming, and the government, along with the Sports and Tourism Ministry, are working extensively to make the island a premier destination in every area.Latest
