Dominica: The Ministry of Tourism of Dominica announced the addition of Sunrise Airways, a prominent Caribbean-based regional airline, to its airlift schedule. This strategic partnership indicates a new era of reliability, accessibility and convenience for travellers visiting the island The Ministry called it an exciting day for air access to the sister islands as Sunrise Airways made its inaugural flight to the Douglas Charles Airport on Monday. The airline's officials on board were welcomed by government dignitaries and other stakeholders during a short ceremony held at the Executive Lounge of the airport. Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit also took to Facebook to share glimpses of the flight's arrival and said, "Dominica today welcomed the inaugural flight of Sunrise Airways, enhancing regional connectivity and creating new opportunities for economic growth." According to the information, the airline will operate six days weekly, with flights connecting Dominica to Antigua, St. Kitts and Saint Lucia. The flight was welcomed in Dominica with a water cannon salute, marking the beginning of a collaborative partnership.  As the flight arrived in the island, Minister of Tourism, Denise Charles-Pemberton outlined that her team is pleased that Sunrise Airways had heeded the region's call for increased intra-regional travel. She added the airline's commitment to connecting the islands aligns with their vision for a more interconnected Eastern Caribbean.  Minister Charles noted that this expansion is not just a win for Dominica but for all the destinations involved and added, "We anticipate a surge in tourism and economic activity, offering the citizens more travel chances and bringing the communities closer together." In addition to this, she encouraged all stakeholders, from businesses to community members to actively support and use these new services. She stated that it is through their collective effort and patronage that the Ministry can ensure the success of this initiative.  Also, the CEO of Sunrise Airways, Philippe Bayard said called it an exceptional day and said that it marked the beginning of a new chapter for Sunrise Airways and for the enchanting island of Dominica. "Whether visitors are here for whale watching, hiking in the rainforest or business, Sunrise Airways is excited to help discover and appreciate all that this beautiful island has to offer," he added.  The arrival of this flight also marks a huge milestone for Dominica as it will allow visitors to travel to the Nature Isle amid peak vacation season.
