Guyana: Two men die in early morning crash on Eversham Road

Guyana: Two men lost their lives following a road accident on the Eversham Public Road in Corentyne, Berbice, on early Monday morning.

According to the Guyana Police Force, the accident took place at around 3:45 am on August 10. The two men were traveling in motorcar PZZ 9131 when the vehicle reportedly crashed into a bridge rail.

One of the victims has been identified as 26-years-old Daniel Singh of Lot 62 Asim Street in Cumberland, Canje, Berbice. The second victim is 19-years-old Admeer Poran of Rosignol, West Coast Berbice.

Two other men were injured during the crash. They are Brandon Suban of 77 Rosignol, West Coast, Berbice, and the unnamed driver of the vehicle. Both of them sustained severe injuries and were taken to a medical facility for treatment after the crash.

Police officers said that the car was moving at a high speed when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle. The car then collided with the bridge rail.

Preliminary information suggests that the men may have been returning from a wake house when the accident occurred. Investigations are currently underway to determine the circumstances during the collision, as more information is expected to be made public soon.

Locals have taken to social media urging authorities to put in place stricter road safety measures to prevent similar accidents from happening in the future. One individual commented, “When will this carnage on the road ends?Very heart-breaking for the families who are loosing their love ones. I could clearly remembered there were police escorting vehicles from Rosignol to Georgetown.”

Another person stated, “The Authority responsible for Traffic Regulations PLEASE do something definite about this situation. This carnage on our roadways is far too much. Apply the Laws no matter who it is.”
