A massive search is underway in Dominica to find a 12-year-old girl who was abducted by a mentally unstable man on Tuesday. The Dominica police on Thursday morning addressed a press conference, revealing that 105 officers have been deployed to search for missing Kernisha Etienne.

As per the Police, searches are ongoing in Warner, Springfield, Layou Park, Belfast, Belles, Syndicate, Sylvania, Sultan and surrounding areas. During the search, a belt, one slipper, a one-night gown and a teddy bear believed to be that of Kernisha Etienne were recovered in the Warner area.

"We are still in the state of rescue and trying our utmost to find and rescue the child. We have made several efforts, and we are also grateful for the support by the general public," said police officials.

The police is also utilizing several drones are being utilized in the search, and a tracking dog is currently being used in the search.

Prime Minister of Dominica Dr Roosevelt Skerrit also commended the police for their rescue efforts. He said the government is ensuring that the police have all the required resources to carry out the operations.

"Everything will be done to ensure that we can bring Kernisha Etienne safely; let's keep her in our prayers, let us be hopeful and confident we can bring her safe,".

The Government of France supported the operation by providing the services of a helicopter. The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force has been receiving support from various government agencies, the private sector and members of the public.
