Trinidad and Tobago sees tourist boom: Arrivals up 8% in 1st four months of 2024

According to the information, for both islands of Trinidad and Tobago, visitor arrivals were 113,807 for the reporting period.
To date, the figures indicate that North America was Trinidad and Tobago’s main source market, with an average of 62 percent of total arrivals. Other notable source markets reported to be CARICOM (15 percent) and Europe (17 percent).
The data also revealed that the main purpose of visit to Trinidad for 30 percent of travelers was to visit their friends and relatives, while 28 percent arrived for leisure, beach, or vacation purposes, and just a mere 11 percent visited for business conferences.Meanwhile, 48 percent of males reported visiting the island during the first four months of this year, while 52 percent were females.
In addition to this, for the month of April 2024, the Average Daily Rate was TT$1,147, which represented a 0.8% year-on-year increase. Furthermore, when compared to April 2019, the Average Daily Rate increased by six percent.
The hotel occupancy rate was recorded to be around 50 percent during all these months, showcasing the island nation’s fame among travelers.
Also, the 2023-2024 cruise season saw a total of 36 calls bringing 78,202 passengers and 29,237 crew members to destination Trinidad. Of the passengers arriving, 27 percent opted for an organised or pre booked tour. The season concluded on April 17, 2024, marked by the inaugural call from Island Sky. In January, the island received five cruises, which brought 12,057 passengers, followed by six cruises and 12,984 passengers the next month. In March, seven cruises visited the island with 14,712 passengers, and in April, only one cruise arrived with 100 passengers.
