Bahamas: Unidentified man found dead along shoreline in New Providence

Bahamas: A body of an unidentified adult man was recovered at the waterfront in New Providence on Wednesday evening, August 5.

According to the Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF), the body was found shortly before 6:00 pm behind a house in the Eastern Road area. Investigators and Emergency Medical Services personnel were dispatched to the scene following a report of the discovery.

Police received information that the body of an unresponsive man had washed ashore behind a residence on the Eastern Road. Officers, along with Emergency Medical Services personnel, responded to the scene to investigate, shared RBPF via an official press statement on their Facebook page.

Officers said that the man appeared to be in his 50s and was lying face down on the shoreline. He was wearing blue boxer shorts. The medical team examined the body and reported that he had no sign of life.

The statement further read, “Upon arrival, police found the body of a dark-complexioned, heavyset male, believed to be in his fifties, lying face down on the shoreline. He was clad in blue boxer shorts.” The police authority also reported that the body showed no signs of foul play.

Investigators said that a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of his death. The investigation is still ongoing.

Authorities are requesting members of the public who have any information concerning the deceased person to contact 911, 919, the nearest police station, Criminal Investigation Department at 502-9991, or anonymously tip Crime Stoppers at 328-TIPS (8477).
