The international cruise gateway of Antigua and Barbuda, Antigua Cruise Port is all set to embark on the 2nd phase of a transformative investment amounting around US$45 million. This project is being led by Global Ports Holding which is the worlds largest cruise port operating company.

This new phase will include a state-of-the-art cruise terminal as well as the exclusive Antigua Day Club, which will elevate the sport to new heights.

According to the information, GPH signed a groundbreaking 30-year concession agreement in 2019 with the government of Antigua and Barbuda. This agreement aimed to redevelop, modernise and manage the cruise port complex at St John’s as well as Falmouth Harbour.

The Antigua Cruise Port noted that with an additional 46 cruise calls anticipated for the 2023-2024 cruise season, it is on track to break all records and provide the guests with some unforgettable experiences. With this development, Antigua and Barbuda are poised to become premium cruise destinations in the near future.

Since the completion of the 5th berth in 2020, the popularity of Antigua and Barbuda has increased, which is a perfect time as the cruise industry continues to grow significantly.

The CEO of the Global Ports Holding, Mehmet Kutman noted that the 2nd phase of the project will generate more business for the local community while enhancing the overall passenger experience and creating a new sense of excitement about the destination as a premium cruise destination. It will also help to boost the local economy and community. The GPH will build the Antigua Day Club which will be a 3700 square foot beach club at the port that will feature a number of amenities for the visitors such as pool, bars, restaurants and a separate stage for entertainment.

This day club is anticipated to become the pinnacle of the new and exciting Antigua Cruise Port experience as it will boast an exclusive outdoor oasis with great food, drinks, music and more for visitors who want to get off the cruise but do not want to take a tour or excursion.

The cruise industry in Antigua and Barbuda is certainly witnessing excellent value and with its sunning environment, unmatched service as well as unique charm, the Antigua Cruise Port will soon become an increasingly sought after destination with the addition of the day club and the new terminal.
