St Kitts and Nevis 'establishes diplomatic relations' with Turkmenistan
No official statement yet but news shared on social media
The Federation of St Kitts and Nevis formally began diplomatic relations with Turkmenistan this week.
Although no official statement has been released, a tweet on Wednesday morning showed High Commissioner Kevin Isaac in London alongside a representative from the central Asia country.
According to the social media post, Isaac "signed a Protocol Establishing Diplomatic Relations with Turkmenistan on behalf of the Federation this morning".
WIC News has reached out the the UK St Kitts and Nevis High Commission for comment, who referred reporters to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Turkmenistan, with a population of 5.3 million, bordered by the Caspian Sea and largely covered by the Karakum Desert.
It is known for archaeological ruins including those at Nisa and Merv, which were major stops along the ancient Silk Road trade route.
