Trinidad and Tobago hosts Nations Cup Caribbean 2026, welcomes junior karters from across region

Trinidad and Tobago is set to host the Nations Cup Caribbean 2026, an international junior karting competition, at the Frankie Boodram Wallerfield International Raceway starting today on August 13 and will last till Sunday, August 16.

The championship is funded in part by the Fédération Internationale De L’Automobile (FIA), motorsport’s world governing body, as a part of its Sport Grant Programme that funds motorsport development.

The event is hosted under the collaboration of Trinidad and Tobago Automobile Sports Association (TTASA), Trinidad and Tobago Karting Association (TTKA), and Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF).

The Trinidad and Tobago Karting Association announced through an official statement that, Thirteen drivers aged 10 to 15, representing Barbados, Bermuda, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago, will compete for both individual and team honours.

The association also announced, It is the first time Trinidad and Tobago has hosted an international karting event of this level.

All the young competitors will race the identical karts supplied and maintained by the Barbados Motoring Federation that are the Vortex-engined Exprit Ok-Junior karts, the same machinery used in the CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy in Europe.

According to the official reports, Daniel Coen, the FIA’s vice-president for sport-North America will also attend the event with an official delegation. The first Trinidadian to claim the title of Caribbean Junior Karting Academy Trophy champion in 2023 was Naomi Garcia.

The competition will run in a systematic order, starting with two free practice sessions, two qualifying sessions, four heat races and two finals over the race days. The race will take place on August 15 and August 16 and will be open for spectators.
