In a tweet earlier on Thursday, Skerrit lauded Modi’s historic victory and added that he looks forward towards deepening ties and exploring new areas of collaboration. He also expressed Dominica’s interest in future collaborations with India.

Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi expressed his commitment to strengthen bilateral partnership with the Commonwealth of Dominica. His reply comes after Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit extended best wishes upon Modi’s third consecutive victory. In a tweet earlier on Thursday, Skerrit lauded Modi’s historic victory and added that he looks forward towards deepening ties and exploring new areas of collaboration. He also expressed Dominica’s interest in future collaborations with India. Prime Minister Skerrit’s tweet congratulated his Indian counterpart and received a massive reach on Twitter. Over more than 1 million people interacted, with hundreds of others commenting and liking the post. The majority of the reach came from India and widespread followers of Modi. Notably, Modi received a landslide victory in the country’s Lok Sabha elections which were carried out in different phases. The final results came out on the 4th of June. The world’s largest democracy participated in the elections; more than 640 million people exercised their ballot through EVM (Electronic Voting Machines) Dominica & India Relations Dominica and India already share good bilateral connections. During the times of COVID-19 pandemic when vaccines were rarely available, India sent out a helping hand by delivering over 70,000 jabs of the Oxford Astrazeneca. The doses were manufactured by the Indian Serum Institute. In early 2021, the Commonwealth of Dominica became the first country to vaccinate over 50 percent of its total population with a single dose. Currently, several Indians are working on different infrastructural projects across Dominica, while many Dominican students are receiving education in India. As per the data available in the public domain, in 2023-2024 both countries shared a trade of USD 3 million approximately. Accordingly, India exported goods worth USD 2.53 million and imported worth USD .050 million. Dominica mainly imports pharmaceutical products, garments, textiles, food products, home furnishings as well as ceramic products from India.
