After almost a year of suspension, the Royal Caribbean International is all set to relaunch its services in North America. While cruises from the United States are almost out of the question for some time, the company will homeport vessels in the Bahamas and Bermuda beginning from June 2021.
As the cruise industry returns to North America, Royal Caribbean International is preparing to relaunch service in the region after more than a year.
Royal Caribbean International’s President and CEO Michael Bayley stated that they have been in regular conversation with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the discussion is on a very positive path because of the ongoing vaccination decisions.
He stated that later this year, a third ship would start services to Barbados, offering week-long cruises to Southern Caribbean and ABC islands.
As per Bayley, the actions are part of a major restart program that includes ships travelling not only in North America but also in the Mediterranean and Asia. “All of those ships have been doing great. There has been good interest. We feel inspired by the bookings that we see,” Bayley noted. As the pandemic situation gets better, the understanding of the overall situation is also changing, he continued.
“Since March 2020, we survey our customers every month, asking them a list of questions about how they see the future, how they feel about COVID, their lives, vacations, travel and more," stated Bayley. In the past few months, the examination results came incredibly accurate. People do understand that the worst is after us, that it is getting to an end. They are very excited to travel in the future.
