The Ministry said that the officials would be on hand from Tuesday, June 28-Thursday, June 30, 2022, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm daily to process applications.
The e-passports, which were launched in July 2021, replace the standard machine-readable one and include both overt and covert security elements.
How to upgrade to Dominica's e-passport?The newly released - passports are enhanced with various new security features by biometric passports. It contains an integrated microchip that stores the holder's personal data, including facial, fingerprint, and iris data. Compared to information on a printed page, this makes the document far more difficult for fraudsters to duplicate.
Rayburn Blackmoore, the minister of national security and home affairs, noted that e-passports would improve the nation's border security measures, develop a watchlist for people of interest, and keep officers informed of information on people and cargo entering the country. He added that the issuance of e-passports would cost the government $6M.Upgrading to e-passport costs the same as upgrading to a regular passport, which is EC$75 for children under 16 and EC$150 for adults 16 years or older.
