St Lucian health ministry to organize Mobile Dental Programme at Grace Combined School

The programme will benefit the students of the hosting as well as neighbouring schools. As per ministry of health, wellness & elderly affairs, the initiative will help learn about a wide range of topics, including healthy lifestyles, healthy eating, personal hygiene and COVID-19 protocols.
The programme will also provide dental treatment, such as cleanings, fillings and extractions onsite, to the school students. To attract the students, the team has organized a mini treasure hunt, lucky dip and other engaging games for the students to be held in keeping with the established protocols, as per the information by the Ministry of Health.
The initiative has been hosted by the Dental Services Unit, under its ongoing school mobile dental programme, which has been in operation for more than 12 years. The programme has benefitted hundreds of schools across the breadth of the island.
The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs service has been known for the creative promotion of oral health through education-related activities. Through this programme, the unit shares tips to keep the teeth healthy and strong. The activities followed by the unit are – National Dental Poster, Poetry, and Spelling Bee competitions, as well as the Dental Easter and Summer camps.
The ministry further thanked the sponsors who assisted the team in assisting in every possible way.
The unit further reminded the public about the regular dental service, including – oral hygiene education, cleanings, fillings, extractions, sealants, fluoride treatment and chair orientation, which could be granted at the dental clinics. The timings announced by the Dental Service Unit was between 8 am to 4:30 pm from Monday to Friday.
The unit further stated that the dental clinics would allow the walk-ins only for urgent or emergency cases.
