The Bahamas reported its 22nd murder of the year as a man supposedly in his 20s was shot dead by three gunmen in Matthew Street at Nassau Village on Sunday.

It is to be noted that he was killed while he was driving a vehicle in the area of Matthew Street.

Details of the incident According to the police, it is believed that a deceased visited a resident on the same day around 7 am. He was approached by three gunmen who were driving a light-coloured Japanese vehicle.

In due course of time, they fired multiple shots with a high-powered weapon at the victim's car. The deceased made several attempts to escape the place, but his vehicle collapsed into a neighbouring fence.

The gunshots resulted in severe injuries to his body. The police are investigating the matter, and they urged the public that anyone who may have any additional information regarding this murder should inform the nearby police station.

The news has been shared by various social media pages to increase awareness regarding such incidents. Many people across the region took to their Facebook handles to express their concern about the spike in the crime rate in the country.

While reacting to the post, a person named Jason Stubbs wrote, “Early in the morning, three armed and dangerous gunmen just driving around looking to merk someone, the criminals really running Nassau.”

Another FB user by the name of Jimmy Langley commented, “Law abiding Bahamians need to be able to arm and protect themselves. Criminals don’t care about laws.”

Additionally, this is not the first time that people have experienced murder incidents. A few weeks ago, a 17-year-old female was shot and killed in her home in Nassau Village.

As per sources, gunmen came to kill her mother’s boyfriend, whom she was hiding in their home from police. The mother’s boyfriend had since disguised himself as police and is currently in prison, awaiting trial.

Crime has been a serious problem across the Bahamas. Each day, numerous lives are lost in such heinous acts of crime, and in many instances, the criminals get away from their wrongdoings and continue to target people.

The authorities are suggested to take serious actions and implement strict actions towards the culprits.
