Nicholas Pooran, a cricketer from Trinidad and Tobago, has been selected as the new captain of the West Indies ODI and T20 Teams. Pooran, who is a resident of Couva South constituency, has distinguished himself through a young but exciting career in international cricket, and there is both high hope for and high expectations of his captaincy.
Hailing from Derry Lane, Mc Bean Village, Couva, Calcutta #1, Nicholas Pooran began his cricketing journey at Mc Bean Sports Club in Couva. Over the years, he had associations with the Kumar Rampat Cricket Academy, which has helped develop his all-around cricketing and leadership skills and is now headlining across the world.
His appointment as captain is a testimony to the confidence he has inspired through his skill and humility.
Opposition party's Member of Parliament for Couva South Rudranath Indrasingh congratulated"Let me thank outgoing skipper Kieron Pollard for his immediate past leadership of our regional squad, and I hope that his experience can be used as a foundation for future successes of the T20 team," said MP Rudranath Indrasingh.
He stated that the people will be paying keen attention to the ICC Men's World Cup 2022 and the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023.
"May we seize Nicholas' appointment as captain as an opportunity for all to rally around the West Indies and hope that this will lead to the much-anticipated rise of the West Indies to the glory it held in the 1970s/1980s golden era of West Indies cricket," said Indrasingh.
