St John, Antigua: Hermione Eileen Parris, the oldest resident of Moore’s Land, St John, celebrated her 107th birthday on Friday, December 29, 2023.
While extending her happiness on her auspicious day, Parris, affectionately called Ermie by friends and family, shared that she was gladdened to have made it for another year.
She further added it would be an accomplishment for her if it was in god's plan to become a supercentenarian.
“Through many dangers, toils and snares, I am here. It is his (God’s) grace that brought me thus far. My longevity comes from the Almighty; I have no control over my life,” she added.
Born on Pool Land, Hermione Parris moved into St John with her daughter, Wendy Reid, who cares for her well.
By god's grace, the birthday girl is living her life happily in good health and free from any non-communicable disease or other such illnesses. Parris is a carefree, cheerful lady in the town who has a good sense of humour and loves engaging in long conversations.
Her husband, Richard Parris, died at the age of 92 in 2007. The couple had seven children, three of whom are deceased. As per Parris, she has too many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her daughter, Wendy Reid, shared that on her mother's 100th birthday, the tally of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was more than 60.
Meanwhile, some pictures from Parris's 107th birthday are widely spread on social media and have been the centre of attention for everyone. Many people across Antigua and Barbuda congratulated her via comments for achieving this milestone. People wished Parris lots of blessings, longevity, laughter, and success.
Users shared their love and support. One user mentioned, "OMG, what a blessing! Congratulations to you. Have a wonderful birthday. Enjoy your day. Love you blessings from above".
"Happy birthday, Ermie. Wishing you many more years if it is God's will. Enjoy your special day and continue doing what you are doing", another user identified as Diana Wharton mentioned.
