American Airlines announces new services and route from Philadelphia to Barbados

Bridgetown, Barbados: The Minister of Tourism- Ian Gooding Edghill has announced the addition of 35,000 seats with new American Airlines services starting from this year. He expressed his commitment to fostering the tourism sector under his stewardship.

It is to be noted that the tourism minister made the announcement on Saturday stating that American Airlines has added two new services, including a fresh route from Philadelphia to Barbados. This new addition is expected to bring positive and fruitful outcomes to the tourism industry.

“Today, I am pleased to announce that American Airlines will be doubling the number of gateways out of the United States that serve Barbados”, added Minister Edghill.

While continuing his statement, he further added “This represents the largest ever number of gateways from the United States servicing the Barbados destination at any time in history, a total of seven.”

Notably, Tourism Minister Edghill informed through a press release that American Airlines will start its daily non-stop service from John F Kennedy Airport, New York from November 5, 2024, with 737 aircraft with a capacity of 172 seats.

Noting this, American Airlines will commence a ‘Saturday-only’ service from Philadelphia with its 190-seat A321 aircraft just four days later on November 9, 2024.

These new winter services will bring the total to seven gateways from the United States and represent the largest-ever number of gateways from the United States, that will be serving Barbados destination at any time.

Moreover, the arrival of these new US services will lead to an increase in premium business class seats for passengers and an increase in visitor profile requests.

“My Ministry considers this resumption by American Airlines as a sure indication of the airline’s confidence in brand Barbados and the very strong demand for Barbados as a destination”, Minister Edghill added.

The Ministry of Tourism and International Transport along with the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc (BTMI) are seeking to create strategies that will enhance and improve Barbados Airlines. This achievement is a result of their efforts and dedication.

Such an achievement so evidently directs towards the economic growth of the country.
