After massive outcry spread across the social media, the Jamaica police successfully captured the man who reportedly raped a 91-year-old woman in Westmoreland last week.
As per the reports, the accused was taken into Police Custody on Tuesday afternoon, following that DNA Sampling was done to ascertain more facts. The officials have kept the identity and other related information confidential for other security reasons.
In the initial reports, the authorities have said that they are trying harder to gather more evidence into the matter and, at the same time, trying to maintain the security of the victim.
The official told the 91-year-old woman was alone in her two-bedroom board-dwelling house. She woke up early in the morning, hearing some strange noises from the room's window. Upon opening the door, a man known to her barged entry into the home, and committed the crime.
The 91-year-old woman called her neighbour, who arrived at her residence immediately and contacted the Police. The woman was then submitted to the hospital by her relatives and community residence for further medical treatment.
Moreover, this ongoing matter, which once outrageously aroused many users on social media, calling the Police and the authorities to take strict actions, are now in great relief.
Some took to their social media handles and thanked the officers for their effective and immediate operations. "Great job, officers," a user reacted. While others also appealed to the Police and the system to take stricter actions in the case. "We need stricter punishment for evil like these," another social media user noted.
Some also called the accused mentally ill for this brutal act and stated, "Maybe he is sick in his mind. I don't know yaa mann mistress." "This is a person of unsound mind mad," commented others.
