Prince Philip peacefully died this morning at Windsor Castle

Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, who had been the companion to Queen Elizabeth for 73 years, passed away at Windsor Castle this morning.

Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, who had been the companion to Queen Elizabeth for 73 years, passed away at Windsor Castle this morning.

“It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has declared the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle,” the Royal Family’s Twitter handle said in a post.

Prince Philip, the 99-year-old husband of Queen Elizabeth II, had left a London hospital on Mar. Sixteen after a over four week-long stay for treatment for an infection and to have a heart procedure.

Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, was hospitalized to the private King Edward VII’s Hospital on Feb. 16 after he experiencing sickness and was given treatment for an indefinite, but not COVID-19-related, disease.

He was transported quickly at the start of this month to a specialist cardiac centre at another London hospital, where he underwent a strong procedure for pre-existing heart disease.
