Nobody tested COVID-19 positive during CPL in St Kitts and Nevis: Jonel Powell

St Kitts and Nevis successfully hosted the Caribbean Premier League amid the COVID-19 pandemic without anyone testing positive. The last match was played at the Warner Park Sporting Complex in Basseterre, St Kitts. Authorities stated that during the hosting of the event, no person associated with the CPL tested positive for coronavirus.

Jonel Powell, Minister of Education, Youth, Sport & Culture, congratulated everyone for their cooperation and hard work to make the event hit.

He said the success of CPL shows that the event is now a blueprint for other events that St Kitts and Nevis would be hosting amidst the coronavirus pandemic.

"I welcome the great news from the medical experts that there were NO COVID-19 cases that can be traced to the recent CPL games.

The successful hosting of CPL could therefore be used as a “blueprint” for the hosting of future events." said Powell.

While thanking the management and everyone, he wrote, "I thank and congratulate all those involved in the direction of the CPL, including the volunteers, groundsmen and Mr Val Henry, who headed the Local Management team."
