Govt of Dominica announces Election Notice for by-election for Village Council

Dominica: The Government of Dominica has announced the ‘Election Notice’ for the by-election of Village Council. The government informed the general public that it has appointed Ms Nardine Paul as the officer/supervisor for the Paix Bouche/Belle Maniere/Moore Park/Dos D’Ane Village Council to conduct By-Election.

According to the government of Dominica, the Nomination day is the 10th March, 2022 and the Presiding Officer/Supervisor would be available at the Village council office in Paix Bouche between 8 am to 4 pm. Till then, the complete nomination documents must be delivered to the Presiding Officer/Supervisor.

The government has stated that the submission of the documents will not be done after 4 pm.

The government informed, “Every candidate must be named and designated by his full name and residence in the nomination paper, by two duly qualified voters, and the person so named must express in writing on the nomination paper, his consent to such nomination”.

The Dominican government further stated that at the time of presenting every candidate’s nomination paper must deliver, or cause to be delivered to the Presiding Officer/Supervisor.

“In the event of the election being contested, the poll will take place between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm on the 30th March, 2022 and the counting of the votes will take place after the close of the poll,” the government mentioned.

The government stated that Calibishie Village Council general public would be informed by Lindon Marie, as the Presiding Officer/Supervisor. According to the notice, the nomination day in Calibishie Village Council is 3rd March, 2022 (Thursday) and event of election will take place on 23rd March, 2022 (Wednesday).

The government stated that Castle Bruce Village Council general public would be informed by Cleve Edwards as the Presiding Officer/Supervisor. The notice notified that nomination day would be 15th March, 2022 and the event of election will be on 4th of April, 2022.

The Ministry of Public Works and the Digital Economy Technical Services Division has shared the invitation to tender for the rehabilitation of Virgin Lane Sidewalk, Drainage and Road Surface. The Government of Dominica wishes to seek interested qualified and experienced contractors to tender for the said works.

While sharing the scope of the intended work compromises, the government notified – Demolition of existing drains and sidewalks, scarifying of road surface, installation of underground utility duck, installation of underground storm drains, and a few others.

The government concluded by announcing the recruitment for enumerators to conduct the 2021 national Census. The government stated, “The Central Statics Office is pleased to announce commencement of recruitment for enumerators to conduct 2021 National Census”. The government further mentioned the details to provide the assistance to the people of Dominica.
