Health Minister of Brazil Marcelo Queiroga tested Covid-19 positive just hours after accompanying President Jair Bolsonaro to the UN General Assembly in New York. He also met British Prime Minister Boris Johnson at the UN before testing positive.
Queiroga remains in New York in quarantine, the government communications office said in a statement. "The minister is doing well," he said. The statement added that the remaining delegation tested negative for the virus.
Many world leaders are in New York to attend the 76th meeting of the UN General Assembly.
Other recent reports from the UN General Assembly include that France on Wednesday rejected a report published in the British Daily Telegraph, saying that President Emmanuel Macron was ready to relinquish his French seat on the UN Security Council in exchange for the formation of a European Union army. On the first day of the meeting, Chinese President Xi Jinping said that his country would no longer fund coal-fired power plants abroad and surprised the world about the climate for the second year in a row at the UN General Assembly. That arrived hours after US President Joe Biden declared a plan to double financial aid to impoverished nations to $ 11.4 billion by 2024 so that these countries can switch to cleaner energy and take care of the worsening effects of global warming.Latest
