PM Harris shows concern about climate change as TS Ida devastates NY

Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis Dr Timothy Harris also expressed his view on climate- change. He said the destructive impacts of Tropical storms in the United States of America are reminding the world that climate change is real.
Dr Harris said that the world needs to do more to curtail global warming and work towards reducing carbon emissions. He cautioned that it is high time everyone starts to think of climate change and take action.Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris said that his government and country sympathise with those lost loved ones. He also wished the people affected by Storm Ida a speedy recovery.
New York is currently experiencing the most massive flooding and rainfall in its history. Thousands of people are trapped in their basement apartments; roads are flooded, debris is all over, and over 45 people have lost their lives.
The situation in the state of Louisiana is no different either; it is where Tropical Storm Ida made landfall first. As per reports, the flooding is so massive that alligators are now entering the suburbs. A 71-year-old had his arm ripped off by a giant alligator while walking around in the floodwaters. His wife told Associated Process that he had been missing since then.In 2021, climate change caused a sudden change in the environment; many countries like China, Germany and now the US are experiencing unusual rainfalls resulting in flash floodings, causing destruction of life and infrastructure.
So far, the 2021 Atlantic Hurricane Season have had four Hurricane that caused total damages of US $17.021 billion and more than
103 fatalities.
