The Special Victims Department of Trinidad and Tobago in collaboration with the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, held a woman who was seen assaulting and harassing two young kids in a viral video. The video went viral on social media, and police and child services swiftly responded and came into immediate action to look into the matter.

The police took no time to investigate the location of the alleged abuser's location. They simultaneously contacted the children's services to ensure proper proceeding on the matter. After reaching the location, Police, in collaboration with child authority, asked questions in the neighbourhood to gather information about the alleged woman.

After collecting information, the Special Victims Department and the Children's Authorities held the woman. The Children's Authority Emergency Response interviewed the lady and the children, who were aged 3 and 9.

Following the interview, the woman was taken into custody, and the kids were sent for medical check-ups to provide aid for any possible injury. However, the kids were discharged after medical help and were put under the care of the Children's Authority.

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service issued statements informing about the investigation and how it proceeded from a viral video to the arrest of a physical abuser. The culprit was taken to Barataria Police Station after being taken into custody. Head of the Special Victims Department, Superintendent Claire Guy-Alleyne, addressed the matter, saying that parenting can be harsh and challenging at times. However, it is still undoubtedly unethical to physically abuse a kid and any parent facing an issue regarding child care should contact a concerned official right away.

Superintendent Claire along with ASP Aroon and Trinidad and Tobago Police Service has worked into this investigation. They proactively searched the culprit's location and rescued the kids.

Additionally, he also expressed his gratitude to the public for being vigilant regarding such cases of abuse and taking the right steps to report the police about the criminal activity.

It is evident from the case that a society consisting of a media-literate population can act as a tool in reporting usually neglected crimes.
