A Guyanese man is on the run after brutally stabbing his wife in the face on Tuesday. As per reports, the accused was an abusive husband and often behaved violently with other family members.

The accused has been identified as Cort Garraway of the 5th Avenue Diamond New Scheme of the East Bank Demerara. According to their neighbour, the man has been abusing his partner for more than 12 years and would often beat her even for a small disagreement.

The source also revealed that on Tuesday, Garraway went home after work, following which a couple had a disagreement, and he reportedly chopped her wife to her face using a sharp knife.

This brutal incident on the mother of two was carried out in the presence of their small children. After this incident, the accused made a good escape and was reported by the victim at the Diamond Police Station.

The police officials in Guyana have launched an investigation into the incident and are seeking the public's assistance to help them catch the accused.

Several citizens and residents of the country condemned the incident while some also urged the woman to leave her husband as it is long time now.

"12 years, my goodness, it's about time you make up your mind and stop forgiving him. He's not going to stop until you are dear," wrote a user named Ackulura Thomas, while another user, Ivor Cummings, said, "Come on brothers, do not abuse our women for they are our mothers, our sisters, our daughters, our wives and our rock so let's protect them please."

Another user also felt sorry for the victim and said, "Sorry for all the abused women who don't have nobody to represent them. In addition to being abused for so long, he has now scarred her face for life."
