Christophe Maleau makes history, successfully swims from Saint Lucia to Martinique
12-year-old Christophe Maleau from Martinique made historic achievement after successfully returning from Saint Lucia underwater

As per the reports, very few people made this attempt earlier, and none of them returned successfully. However, after a period of spending 13 hours, 50 minutes and 47 seconds underwater, the 12-year-old was the first to make this triumphant achievement.
Reportedly, on Saturday (January 13), Maleau departed from Saint Lucia earlier in the morning. However, after taking half-time than 24 hours underwater, he finally reached Sainte Anne in Martinique at around 6 PM.
While reflecting upon his achievement, the 12-year-old boy, with a dream of becoming an Olympics champion and a profound shine in his eyes, Maleau said he always had this dream placed in his eyes while on his route.
Previously, In 2022, Marleau was also a participant in CARIFTA 2022 and has recorded top seed in the 13-14 age group for the 1500 and 800-metre freestyle in Swimming. Over time, his passion for Swimming has risen, and now he has his eyes on reaching the Olympics and proudly representing his home island.He even ranked third in the 400-metre freestyle race and qualified for the 5k open water swim challenge. These races are a lot shorter than what the young swimmer from Martinique normally races.
On Saturday, October 10 2020, he became the youngest person at age 12 to swim from St Lucia to Martinique. He floated 40 km for a mammoth 13 hours, 50 minutes, and 47 seconds from the Bay of Saint Lucia to Sainte Anne in Martinique.
The swim was done to encourage his mother, Murielle, and other women affected by breast cancer. He has proven his endurance. We will now watch his speed in Barbados from April 16 to 20.
Meanwhile, several people in the social media community congratulated him and wished him all the best and success in his remarkable victory. A user, Marlene Charlery, commented, "Bravo champion !".
