A 66-year-old man, who is a resident of New Jersey, America, lost his life while snorkelling in the Bahamas. As per the information received by the Royal Bahamas Police Force, an investigation has been launched into the death of this American tourist.

Police reported that the man was snorkelling around Athol Island on Wednesday. During the activity, he suddenly experienced difficulties, following which he was rescued and collapsed while trying to board a vessel.

As per the official statement of the police, Personnel onboard the vessel immediately gave CPR to the victim, and he was rushed to Paradise Island, where emergency medical technicians were already awaiting his arrival.

The spokesperson added that the victim, who remained unresponsive, was then taken to the hospital, where he was examined by a doctor who pronounced him dead.

The victim, who is of Asian descent, is the most recent in a string of American tourists to die while partaking in water activities in The Bahamas.

Earlier on December 31, a two-deck ferry sank during an excursion to a scenic Bahamas destination. The ship had been carrying a group of cruise passengers to Blue Lagoon Island when it fell, killing a 75-year-old American tourist.

The tourist from North Carolina lost her life during a diving expedition off Ship Channel Cay, Exuma. Despite efforts to save her, including CPR, she unfortunately remained unresponsive and was pronounced dead at a local marina.

One passenger shared a clip of the ship as it began leaning to one side while other panicked passengers onboard started screaming. Some passengers were seen jumping out of the boat and swimming towards another nearby vessel in a bid to escape.

Several people on social media expressed their condolences to the family and friends of the victims. A citizen of the Bahamas named Coralee Wright also mentioned that so many tourists are dying in the country.

"At this point, the tourists just need to sit on the sand and enjoy the view," wrote another Ava Thompson.
