Regional airline LIAT has commenced normal operations after the end of last week was disrupted by industrial action from the pilots.
A disagreement between the Caribbean carrier and the Leeward Islands Airline
Pilots Association (LIALPA) meant some flights were delayed or cancelled.
LIAT did not give any details about the cause of the disagreement, and WIC News has been unable to reach LIALPA for comment.Julie Reifer-Jones, the CEO of LIAT, said: “LIAT apologises for these disruptions to our passengers and their plans and wishes to reiterate its commitment to work with LIALPA to resolve any issues.”
This year has seen a series of strikes by the pilots over the issue of delayed payments and demands for higher wages.
In May, planned industrial action was only averted at the last minute. But in June, a strike grounded planes for three days. LIAT later said that the disruptions cost the company $7 million.Latest
