Donald Trump's twitter account banned "permanently"

Twitter said it has permanently suspended US President Donald Trump's account, as hundreds of his supporters have increased the risk of violence after damaging the US Capitol.

"We have been permanently suspended due to the risk of inciting violence after reviewing recent tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context surrounding them," the company said in a statement on Friday.

Social media platforms have come under increasing pressure to take further action against Trump in the wake of Wednesday's riots, where a crowd of Trump supporters ransacked the building amid chaotic scenes, killing at least five people.

Facebook announced on Thursday that Trump would be prohibited from using the platform for the remainder of his term.

Trump's account was suspended for 12 hours on Wednesday after Twitter initially posted tweets during the presidential riots in which he repeated unfounded claims about fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

Trump was required to delete three rule-breaking tweets before his account was unblocked.

He said, 'In the context of the horrific events of this week, we made it clear on Wednesday that this breach would potentially result from additional violations of the Twitter rules. Our public interest framework enables the public to hear directly from elected officials and world leaders. It is built on the principle that people have the right to have the power of account in the open. "

Trump returned to Twitter on Thursday with a video stating that President-elect Joe Biden would be the next US president and said his focus would be on a smooth transition of power for the next administration.

But on Friday, he posted a series of tweets, in which he said he would not attend Biden's swearing-in ceremony on January 20 and one in which he described his supporters as patriots. The company said in its statement that Trump's tweet on Friday, two, violated the glorification of the violence policy.
