Indecent assault charges for senior Grenada policeman
Officer has not yet been named
A senior police officer in the Royal Grenada Police Force has been released on bail after he was charged with two counts of indecent assault on Wednesday.
The man, who was not identified and did not make a court appearance, was detained on Tuesday.
Charges were brought following an internal investigation after the officer was accused by a female visitor to the island.
She went to the South St George’s Police station to file a matter involving child abuse.
Police have so far refused to disclose the name of the 55-year-old senior cop, whose application for bail was made by one of his colleagues in court.
The cost of bail was EC$8,000
“All I can tell you now is that yes a police officer was charged with two counts of indecent assault, he is 55 and is on EC$8,000 bail,” said a spokesman for the police’s Community Relations Department.
