Prime Minister of Dominica Dr Roosevelt Skerrit visited several project sites in the Soufriere Constituency on Wednesday. During his visit, he also announced several new projects for the upliftment of the constituency.

He announced that the government would construct 16 individual homes at Savanne, and local contractors would be engaged in the project. The construction will be commenced early this year.

The government also plans to build a slipway or boat ramp will be constructed at Scottshead to allow fisherfolk to move their vessels to and from shore for repair and storage during severe weather.

Not only that, Prime Minister announced that 50 meters of concrete wall, 10ft tall, will be reinstated along the Soufriere/Scottshead Seawall, damaged during the passage of Hurricane Maria. The project also includes 60 meters of the reinforced concrete roadway and 60 meters of rock revetment for the protection of the wall along the shoreline.

PM Skerrit stated that the Soufriere Health and Wellness Center is complete and will officially open early this year. Besides this, a community centre, which will double as a hurricane shelter, is on the cards for Gallion.
