As per the initial reports, the lane where she was walking was empty because it was late at night, and no one could hear her cries for help.
After the assault, the suspect pushed her out of his vehicle, after which she reported the incident to the police officials.
The second incident, which involved an 81-year-old Canadian female, took place on Sunday at a resort around 10:30 pm. According to the information, police officials are questioning a 61-year-old male resident, also from Canada, in connection to this incident.
The Canadian woman also lodged her complaint to the hotel officials, who then called the police to file an official complaint against the wrongdoer.
The investigations are still ongoing into both complaints as police attempt to find both the suspects, said the officials.
Several citizens and residents have also condemned the incident while urging the officials to increase safety measures for the tourists arriving on the island. "But they say we SAFE. The whistles aren't working," wrote a user named Jason, while another user expressed his shock and said, "This is very bad the USA then talking about our country wow." Recently, the US Embassy also urged Americans to be safe while travelling to the Bahamas as the crime rate is increasing, and tourists are not safe as they are being robbed and sexually assaulted. This puts a negative light on the country, putting the government in place to soon introduce some strict measures.Latest
