Melissa Skerrit's initiative to make "Easter egg hunt" COVID friendly

Roseau, Dominica: Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Roseau Central constituency has cancelled the annual Easter egg hunt. Parliament Representative Melissa Skerrit stated that an alternative has been set-up to make this year’s “Easter Egg Hunt” COVID friendly. Melissa Skerrit stated in a video posted on her social media accounts that this year the “easter egg hunt” can be done from the comfort of kids' home, where the delivery would be made on the door-step of their homes. Also read: Melissa Skerrit promotes literary month by reading to school children “I love excitement, and I still wanted to make this Easter special for all the kids of Roseau Central”, added Melissa Skerrit. She added that there would be a bag full of “easter eggs” stuffed with candies, toys and stickers with extra treats like crayons, posters. The delivery of these easter egg packages started on Wednesday. Also read: Dominica: Melissa Skerrit receives the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine Melissa Skerrit also shared her “easter morning” schedule and stated, “What I do on Easter morning, I lay out the eggs in my yard, kitchen, living room, put it under trees, beds and let my kids do the egg hunt at home.” Added Parliament Representative from Roseau Central. She stated that this is the first event being handled by the Labour Youth Organization (LYO). She was also joined by the wing's President. Labour Youth Organization President stated that he is happy to be the party of LYO's easter event and excited to share all the lovely goodies with the kids of the Roseau Central constituency. Earlier in March, she attentively took her time to engage primary and kindergarten school kids in reading books, where she herself visited several schools to read out stories to kids. Throughout the literacy month, she visited many schools including, Pioneer Preparatory School, St. Mary's Primary School and Jones Beaupierre Primary School in La Plaine.
