The leader of United Workers Party (UWP), Lennox Linton, took it over to the promise of 3 lakes project in residential communities. During his speech at Parliament on Wednesday, Linton said that the project is set to provide lakes in the communities of Laudat, Trafalgar, Wotten Waven and Fond Canie and it is also in the development proposal of UWP administration.

“We are committed to the development of what we call the Three Lakes Project. It is going to bring hundreds of jobs, thousands of tourists, and millions of dollars to the valley.”

Commonwealth of Dominica’s Prime Minister, Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit had presented the budget in parliament on Tuesday, following the same, Linton said that this project would generate millions of dollars by bringing in tourists and providing hundreds of jobs for Dominican citizens.

According to the leader of the opposition, this idea is to monetize assets of an abundance of natural beauty unmatched in the Caribbean to benefit the inhabitants of Dominica.

“In the valleys and mountains above our capital lies the beautiful and scenic residential communities of Laudat, Trafalgar, Wotten Waven and Fond Canie. Every year during the tourist season, thousands of cruise visitors grace our shores, looking for places to go, our natural assets to explore; none are capable of visiting our most prized natural asset, the Boiling Lake, and that is because it is an all-day hike.”

Linton goes on to explain that this project will comprise five phases, and the first four will be construction concurrently. “The three lakes project is designed to bring hundreds of new jobs, none of which exists presently to the citizens of the Valley, along with opening up our lakes to visitor traffic,” he added.

Notably, the project includes the construction of an aerial tramway connecting all three lakes. A visitor reception area will be built in Laudat. This facility will function as a terminal and will include many amenities including a restaurant with dining capabilities, washrooms, rest areas and a welcome center where visitors will be able to purchase their passes to ride the shuttle or tram.
