Antigua and Barbuda: Prime Minister Gaston Browne expressed solidarity with the Government and people of India as it fights against the second wave of COVID19 in a letter sent to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, April 26, 2021.

PM Browne said, “It is now common knowledge that India is beset with an outbreak of COVID-19 that has inflicted severe harm on its cities and communities, and has paralysed public transportation and the healthcare system, including so many hospitals that are overwhelmed.”

“My heart feels your pain, Prime Minister, and we can only imagine the mounting challenge which the circumstances now pose for your government and people. We pray for India's recovery and stand in solidarity with the Republic of India at this time.”

While addressing the assistance India made during the pandemic, Prime Minister Browne thanked India for a donation of over 500,000 doses of the Oxford Astra-Zeneca vaccine to the CARICOM. “Antigua and Barbuda benefited through this kind and compassionate act of your nation, our citizens received 40,000 doses. It is with much due respect that we thank and applaud the Indian government for this grand, charitable gesture.”

PM added that Antigua and Barbuda would provide continued support and well wishes to India at all times.
