Passengers panic as WinAir plane delays landing twice at Saba airport

WinAir had to abort its landing twice at Juancho E Yrausquin Airport at the Dutch Caribbean island of Saba following intense winds. As per reports, the incident that occured on Tuesday resulted in a panic situation in the passengers.

Notably, the short runway at the Saba airport often results in such situation, causing the airlines to delay their landings due to passenger safety.

During the recent incident, the pilot prioritized the passenger's safety following the winds causing heavy push to the aircraft, resulting in the pilot aborting the landing twice.

It was reported that the decision to abort the landing came as the landing could have caused damage to the aircraft, which could have put the passengers in danger. Amid the harsh weather conditions, the experienced pilots of Winair made the tough decision to abort the landing twice.

The video of the plane making the challenging landing also went viral. It received a different reactions from people on the internet. While a few of them lauded the pilot, many also urged the Government of Saba to make immediate changes at the airport.

"Man, I wish I could've either been on the plane filming or from the other side of the runway filming. South winds are always a challenge for approaches into Saba," wrote a user named Jonathan Adam Zeagers.

Another user named William said, "The Airport needs to be extended. We've been talking for years. It needs to be brought to the table again."

A user named Crispin Brooks said, "Saba’s airstrip is difficult under normal circumstances, I can’t imagine what these pilots are going through trying to land in this bad weather."
