Roseau, Dominica: The government of Dominica continues its goal of becoming the world's first climate-resilient nation. Victims of Hurricane Maria and Tropical Storm Erika are being benefited from the National Housing Programme that aims at constructing over 5,000 climate-resilient homes while over 1640 are already completed.
Another resident at King George V Street, Roseau, received a newly built structure on privately owned land. The climate-resilient home is a two-bedroom house and serves both as residential and commercial purposes.
Ms Melissa Skerrit- Parliamentary Representative for the Roseau Central constituency, shared the news on her official Facebook handle, where she posted a thread of photographs with the homeowner.
Ms Skerrit captioned the photos, "King George V Street has received another facelift through the erection of a newly built structure on privately owned land. This two bedrooms hurricane-proof building serves both residential and commercial purposes and has a concrete roof to accommodate a second level."
She continued that one can visit the snackette ideally located at the front of the building for local fruit juices and tasty meals such as bull foot soup and pasta.
