London: Indian fugitive Mehul Choksi's UK based Lawyer Michael Polak have asked CARICOM to intervene in the case. Polak on Monday requested the body's secretary-general Irwin LaRocque for a meeting.
Michael Polak, who is guilty of committing perjury, is currently under the radar of the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and Bar Standards Board (BSB). A complaint has been registered against him, blaming him for fabricating the legal evidence, not carrying out the process of KYC (Know Your Customer) and AML (Anti Money Laundering) on his client Mehul Choksi.
Locals believe that Mehul Choksi has defamed their world-famous Caribbean region by his deceitful acts. The small Caribbean island countries are famous among travellers looking for a great summer holiday, sandy beaches and a safe environment. However, with the sudden drama created by the Indian fugitive, the region has gone famous for the wrong reasons. Polak had been maintaining that his client was forcefully taken to the neighbouring island by the Indian and Antiguan authorities; however, he has no proof or facts to prove the abduction. The lawyers are making all efforts to mislead the court's judgement and again delay the extradition if prompted. The problems are expected to increase for the Indian diamontaire fugitive after some sources revealed that Babara Jarabica might file a sexual harassment case against him. As per the European tourist Jarabica accused of kidnapping the fugitive, Mehul Choksi tried to kiss her several times in his office, but she resisted and asked him to stop, but he continued to push himself against her. Days after failing to prove the story of Calliope of Arne, Mehul Choksi's team of lawyers decided to pin the scenario on another boat, which could be seen moving in Jolly Harbour like any other boat. The team released a video of a boat driving around in the waters. However, there is nothing that to prove that it was the boat that transported Choksi to Dominica. Earlier, Mehul Choksi's team alleged that he was taken on Calliope of Arne Yacht, but when the fact-checking was done, it was revealed that the boat had left at 10:00 am while Choksi went missing at 5 pm on May 23, 2021. The Criminal Bureau of India (CBI) also stated that Mehul Choksi had been acting smart after defrauding the Punjab National Bank (PNB) worth $2billion. The CBI stated that what occurred in 2018 was planned in 2017 because Choksi had acquired citizenship from Antigua and Barbuda in November 2017 to avoid the criminal charges against him.https://youtu.be/3aH08pnNCRo
Similarly, it is being suspected that Mehul Choksi's extradition to India was to be determined in November 2021, and he had prior knowledge of that, so he fled the country to live in his safe house in Cuba. All of it was going as planned until the authorities in Dominica captured him from a beach in Roseau.
