Julien Alfred created history with her performance at the World Indoor Athletics Championships. The Saint Lucian sprinter won the 60m sprint on Saturday. She finished the sprint in 6.98 seconds.
The athlete secured first gold medal for Saint Lucia in the World Indoor Athletics Championship. The event was hosted in Glasgow, United Kingdom. The athlete said that she has worked very hard for this historic moment. The Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Philip J Pierre took to his social media account to congratulate the 22- year old. The Prime Minister of the country thanked Alfred for creating history for Saint Lucia. The Prime Minister said that he is proud of the youngster for representing Saint Lucia at the international sports events. Notably, Julien Alfred has been making Saint Lucia proud with her performance since the start of her career.She clinched the silver medal in the 2022 Commonwealth games which were held in Birmingham, United Kingdom. She is also the first woman in NCAA to break the seven second barrier in the 60 meter sprint.
At the Big 12 Indoor Championships which was held in Lubbock, she reached the finish line in record time of 6.97 seconds.

In the semi final qualifiers, the young athlete clocked in the time of 7.02 seconds to beat her rivals.
