During a special radio programme, ‘The Next Level on Tuesday, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, referring to the allegations related to the general election, said that making all these allegations, leader of opposition Lennox Linton was highly uncomfortable. He noted that it was looking like someone else was forcing him to speak false statements.
Everything that UWP has said is about them and the elections. The opposition is not even playing their role properly, “Instead of discussing Health, Education or Development, the opposition is emphasizing on themselves. Dominica Labour Party never reached out to court after the elections in the past, we respected the decision of people, and if we go back to the history in all the previous elections, UWP took us to court after every defeat.” PM Skerrit added that all the international organizations were present during the elections, and they did observe free and fair elections in Dominica. “He is the one who is saying that he won the elections after Dominica Labour Party secured 18 seats, Lennox Linton is the Trump of Dominica who is still saying that he won the election.” [caption id="attachment_1901" align="alignleft" width="451"] Lennox Linton, leader of the opposition in Dominica.[/caption] He warned Dominicans that voting is not something that you should take lightly or take as a joke and experiment with the people who are talking nonsense. It is serious business as you are leaving a country in someone’s hands, and therefore you seek the job earnestly. “Mr Linton is dangerous to the democracy of Dominica.”Replying to the statement of Lennox Linton, PM Skerrit said, “One man in Dominica selfishly wanted to get into the office when people of Dominica are saying to him that they do not want him to be Prime Minister of Dominica. Over 60% of the people of Dominica voted for Roosevelt Skerrit and the Dominica Labour Party. So, making this statement, Linton was watching himself in the mirror when he was saying things about Mr Trump. When he was referring to Trump, he was talking about himself!”
Apart from this, reassuring firm commitment to build a new international airport, Prime Minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit said, “I am confident, we will have out the international airport, we are clearing the land and building homes for people who are most affected (people who were displaced). We are working on a number of things for the construction of International Airport.”
During a special radio programme Prime Minister said that the international airport holds substantial importance for Dominica. He added that after completing this airport, Dominica would be able to welcome flights from Europe and North America. “This is our opportunity to have direct flights from Canada, London, and New York, whether those are commercial airlines or private jets.”
