Jamaica wins 38th consecutive CARIFTA title with 84 medals

The team of Jamaica proudly secured its 38th straight CARIFTA Games title with a total of 84 medals, six more than last year. The team won 45 gold, 23 silver and 16 bronze medals, showing its dominance once again in the 46th edition of the prestigious games.
Jamaica was followed by the Bahamas, Trinidad, and Tobago in 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively, with 34 and 27 medals.The difference in medal count between the first position and second position showcases Jamaica’s huge dominance in these games. The team began with securing 49 medals and added 33 more on the final day.
Even after the first day, the officials were anticipating that the final trophy will come the country and so it happened on a great note.
Some individuals of the team also made new records. Jaeda Robinson broke the championship record in the U17 triple Jump Girls with the best of 12.69m while beating the 12.61m set in 2009 by compatriot Rochelle Farquharson. The female broke the 15 year old record on her first jump.Another record was made by 16-year-old Robert Miller in the U17 400 metres hurdles event. He broke 14-year-old record set by Bahamian Stephen Newbold at the 2010 CARIFTA Games. Miller crossed the finish line in 52.19 seconds and made this amazing record.
In addition to this, the first record of the meet for the country was made by Nickecoy Bramwell in the event Under 17 Boys 400-metre finals. He broke the record of 22-year-old made by Usain Bolt by running 47.27 seconds.The final medal count for the CARIFTA 2024 is as follows:
