Indiana extends deadline for resettlement of Afghan refugees
World: Federal officials in the US have extended the resettlement deadline for some 4,100 Afghan refugees. These Afghan refugees lived there more than two months after they reached the 'Camp Atterbury' training post of the 'Indiana National Guard'.  Aaron Butt, the Department of Homeland Security's campaign Allies Welcome coordinator, said the agency's limited rehabilitation resources and the coronavirus pandemic had delayed rehabilitation efforts.  Officials said they aimed to settle the refugees by early November permanently. A new target has been set to settle all the remaining refugees by the end of this year.  Butt, however, said the deadline could extend to early 2022 due to the holidays and winter. Camp Atterbury, about 40 kilometres from Indianapolis, is one of eight locations in the US being used by the Defense Department to house special immigration visa applicants from Afghanistan, their families and other Afghan personnel. Butt said that about 250 Afghan citizens have settled in Indiana so far.  Fred Payne, the Indiana Department of Workforce-Development commissioner, said the state agency is also helping refugees find jobs in Indiana. More than 150 employers in Indiana told the agency that 4,000 jobs are available for refugees. Additionally, Full vaccination will be mandatory for people coming from across the border in the US US President Joe Biden will make full vaccination mandatory for all cross-border people, including truck drivers, government and emergency service officials, etc. This rule can go into effect from January 22.  The Biden administration can announce in this regard soon.
