Four people arrested by Guyana police in Haresh Singh murder case.
Guyana police on Thursday captured four people for murdering Haresh Singh. A press release revealed that the accused were presented in front of the court virtually and were not allowed to plead. The accused include 29 years old Philip Anderson of 3 Village, 27 years old Joel Gittins of Jangotown, 27 years old Gladston Henry of 3 Village, 21 years old Charles Scott of Jarvis Street Rosignol. All of them have been remanded to prison, while the next hearing will be on July 12.

The victim Haresh Singh's body was discovered in the back pond at Number Three Village at a time when there were violent protests over the murders of 16-year-old Isaiah Henry and 19-year-old Joel Henry, whose bodies were found mutilated in the Cotton hinterland.

It has been widely speculated that the murder of Singh was in revenge for the murders of the Henry boys. Singh's family was originally detained as suspects in the murders of the Henry teenagers, but they were later freed.

Haresh Singh left his home in Number Three Village at about 8.30 am, with one of his uncles, to go work the fullback. Shortly afterwards, however, he returned home himself to take water to the estate. He was killed while on his way back to the farm. As per the police, Singh was driving a motorcycle at the time of the attack and the body was discovered in the back dam while the vehicle was burnt.

A post-mortem examination found that Singh died as a result of bleeding in the brain, blunt trauma to the head, exacerbated by compression injuries to the neck.
