On April 9, 2021, the government of Grenada had received 24,000 Oxford Astrazeneca COVID-19 vaccine doses, for which a total of 21,589 doses have been administered to the people. The wise management of the government in some of the Caribbean countries has encouraged other nations to follow the path. Countries like the Commonwealth of Dominica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Grenada have showcased how these small island countries can tackle the wave of COVID-19.
In contrast to this, countries including Trinidad and Tobago, St Lucia and others have reported severe impact of COVID-19 on the economies as well as on the health of the public. Even though there are currently no active cases of COVID-19 in Grenada, the government has advised people to exercise caution and wear face masks and follow all the guidelines provided by the government by maintaining a 6 feet distance in public places. With the new Coronavirus activities, Granada is now on the path to open its tourism sector and help to build back its economy. Government management is credited to the curb of COVID-19 cases in Grenada and people have applauded Prime Minister Keith Mitchell for successful management.Monika Walker is an experienced journalist specializing in global political developments and international relations.
