Grenada: No active case of COVID-19 in the country

The Ministry of health on Saturday officially announced that there are no active cases of COVID-19 in the country.

Grenada: The Ministry of health on Saturday officially announced that there are no active cases of COVID-19 in the country. The statistics provided by the Ministry of Health states that there are no active imported cases or active local cases left in Grenada. So far, the country has reported a total of 161 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Whereas 160 persons have been fully recovered from the global pandemic, and one person has succumbed to the virus. The Ministry of Health had conducted a total of 29,297 Arty PCR tests across the country to check the COVID-19 status.

On April 9, 2021, the government of Grenada had received 24,000 Oxford Astrazeneca COVID-19 vaccine doses, for which a total of 21,589 doses have been administered to the people. According to the Ministry of Health, 14,935 persons have received their first dose of vaccination, and over 6654 persons have received their second dose of Covid 19 vaccine making their vaccination complete.

The wise management of the government in some of the Caribbean countries has encouraged other nations to follow the path. Countries like the Commonwealth of Dominica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Grenada have showcased how these small island countries can tackle the wave of COVID-19.

In contrast to this, countries including Trinidad and Tobago, St Lucia and others have reported severe impact of COVID-19 on the economies as well as on the health of the public. Even though there are currently no active cases of COVID-19 in Grenada, the government has advised people to exercise caution and wear face masks and follow all the guidelines provided by the government by maintaining a 6 feet distance in public places. With the new Coronavirus activities, Granada is now on the path to open its tourism sector and help to build back its economy. Government management is credited to the curb of COVID-19 cases in Grenada and people have applauded Prime Minister Keith Mitchell for successful management.
