Government Cuts Land Costs for St Kitts and Nevis Citizens
Friday, 5th July 2019

The Team Unity Government is bringing cost-savings to hundreds of people and enabling them to own land much faster with its new initiative. By cutting the prices of commercial and industrial lands, the Honourable Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris hopes “to empower people; to give [them] a chance at ownership.”
The new ‘Special Reduced Price’ will be $4.50, down almost 40 percent from $7.00 previously. The initiative will run for 12 months, and apply to 12 different locations across the country. In addition to saving money, residents will be able to purchase land more quickly, with many moving from lessee to owner. According to Prime Minister Harris, this will add stimulus to socio-economic activity across St Kitts and Nevis, and is part of the Government’s efforts “to decentralise economic activity all around St Kitts and Nevis, so you don’t have to come to Basseterre or close to Basseterre for everything. This is history making, because before our time land was in the possession of a privileged few.” Indeed, the 12 locations are spread across the two islands, so citizens and businesses throughout can benefit.
