Dominica reports 71 new cases of COVID-19
Following the decline trend in COVID-19 cases in Dominica, the nature island has reported 71 new cases of the virus, which brings the total active cases to 511
Roseau: Following the decline trend in COVID-19 cases in Dominica, the nature island has reported 71 new cases of the virus, which brings the total active cases to 511 on October 1, 2021.According to the statistics, 3,140 persons have been fully recovered from the viral illness, whereas, 22 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported in the country. 134 persons were discharged following the recovery from the COVID-19 virus.
“48% of our target population took at least one dose of the vaccine,” said National Epidemiologist Dr Shalauddin Ahmed. “Our target population now extended to 12 years and over age group, so that constitutes almost 53,279.”
He further added that a 40% of the target population are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Dominica has witnessed some degree of plateau going forward in last two weeks as the Ministry of health has seen cases between 55 and 57.Over 25,807 persons have already received their first dose of Covid 19 vaccine, whereas, 21,729 persons are now fully vaccinated in Dominica.So far the Ministry of health has conducted over 75,708 tests including 26,474 PCR tests and 49,234 rapid antigen tests.
