Dominica ranks #11 in NY Times' 52 Places to Go in 2024 list

In the prestigious New York Times "52 Places to Go in 2024" list, Dominica proudly ranks as the 11th top destination in the world. This small island is ranked above major destinations of the world, including England, Italy, Mexico, Brazil and others.This shows Dominica's growing presence on the world map and among the travellers. Other than this, the prominent publication also highlighted that the resident population of Sperm Whales will get their own dedicated sanctuary in Dominica.
The first on the list is The Path of Totality, North America, which is followed by Paris, France and Yamaguchi, Japan, in 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively. The NY Times stated, "No matter why you travel, our list offers inspiration."While talking about Dominica, the publication said that a patchwork of rainforests, volcanoes, waterfalls and hot springs has earned the island of Dominica the nickname 'The Nature Island'. The country is a 290-square-mile independent nation in the West Indies.

According to the magazine, Dominica is also a playground for eco-adventurers as it is home to hiking trails which crisscross its three national parks. At the same time, its crystal cascades make for ideal waterfall rappelling and pristine coral reefs provide some of the best diving in the world.

The country also has over 20 species of whales and dolphins, which abound along the island's west coast and include a resident population of sperm whales, said the magazine while adding, "Sperm Whales will be getting their own dedicated sanctuary this year."The Ministry of Tourism of Dominica was thrilled with this prestigious recognition. It said, "Discover Dominica in 2024! NY Times just unveiled its "52 Places to Go in 2024," and guess who made the cut?
